In accordance with Czech School Law No. 561/2004, the 1st International School of Ostrava - mezinárodní Gymnázium is obliged to have a functioning School Board. The School Board provides a legal framework for the parents/guardians of underage students, adult students, pedagogical staff and representatives of the school owners to influence the strategic management of the school.

The Head of School may not be a member of the School Board. Members of the School Board cannot be elected more than once by different parties. There must be a different member for each available position.
The School Board must meet at least twice per year. The Head of School [or his deputy] is obliged to take part in the School Board meetings following the Chairman’s invitation. The chairman is elected by the School Board members at their first meeting, which is called together by the Head of School.
The school board based on regular elections of September 30, 2016 consits of the following members:
