SUMMER FUN CAMP 2009 | 2010-01-07
Every summer the 1st International School of Ostrava organizes an integrative one-week course for new students of the school and public. It takes place in a very nice valley of the Beskydy mountains, in the small town of Velké Karlovice. This August, more than 40 participants were divided into four groups according to their age. There were two 90-minute lessons every morning which were led by the teachers of the school. All the lessons were in English, they were focused on various topics and they were very relaxing, pleasant but also forced the participants to talk and use the foreign language.
In the afternoon, all participants performed their best in several outdoor activities. They played basketball, cricket, indoor golf and paintball; they did archery, horseback riding and mountain biking and went on the rope courses. In the evening they changed teams and were involved in various cooperative and creative games and activities, including a construction challenge and a show in which participants had to prepare and perform some short play, game or activity for all the others. Both students and teachers were very satisfied at the end of the week and were looking forward to the rest of their holidays. The goal of the camp was fulfilled – new students got acquainted with each other, teachers met the new students, everyone practiced his/her English, they played some new games and enjoyed the time very much.
